Industrial Design What is it? What is the designers role. Product development is a journey, the designer acts as an integrator, visualising pathways forward, creating focus and helping to establish targets. It’s aim is to take the initial idea which is based on the integration of the needs of the user, market, and client, and drive that idea through production and into the market place. The designer can apply a unique holistic vision to problems. The goal of Industrial Design is to enhance the user experience which ultimately increases the commercial success of the client company. Industrial Design Collaboration and its importance We can’t work in isolation and enforce opinion. The essence of good design is the collaboration between the designer, the client, the user and the supplier. No one party holds the definitive view. True design success is only achieved by incorporating the most appropriate blend of each parties view into the design and this is the role of the industrial designer.
